Frequently Asked Questions

What is Forth & Future?

Forth & Future is a student-led project created to help international students settle into life in Scotland. We combine practical sustainability tips with cultural insights and community events — making it easier (and more fun!) to feel at home at Edinburgh Napier and beyond.

Who started Forth & Future?

We’re a small team of three friends — Shaun, Drupad, and Ifeoluwa — who wanted to make the transition to Scottish life smoother for new students. What began as a Uniforce project has grown into a genuine community initiative celebrating culture, connection, and sustainable living.

How can I get involved?

You can sign up as a Volunteer or Student Ambassador to help at events, welcome new students, and share your culture. Just fill out the short sign-up form on our website — we’ll get in touch with more details.

Are your events open to everyone?

Yes! Our events are open to all students, whether you’re local or international. They’re designed to bring people together, encourage cultural exchange, and make sustainability part of daily life.

Do I need any experience to be a volunteer or ambassador?

Not at all. All you need is enthusiasm and an interest in helping others. We’ll guide you through everything — from greeting students to helping with event setups.

What kind of events do you run?

We host friendly, hands-on events like:

  • Tea & Chat Welcome Sessions

  • Recycling Demos & Sustainability Workshops

  • Thrift Shop Crawls

  • Cultural Etiquette Meetups

Each event is designed to help you learn something new, meet people, and feel part of the Napier community.

Is this an official Napier programme?

Forth & Future is a student-led initiative supported through the Uniforce 2025 challenge. Our aim is to hand over the project to Napier’s International Office at the end of the programme so it can continue helping students for years to come.
